Relationships and 'theocratic' career
by cyberdyne systems 101 indid you notice or experience the fact that to have an approved romantic relationship you had to be baptised, and for men often you would be expected to be a min servant or elder, or at the very least reaching out in the congregation.
i'm sure others had other rules such as being a pioneer or something.
its another area where you are pressured into conforming to a certain ideal - not a scriptural one but an organisational one.

Finding people you have lost touch with
by cyberdyne systems 101 inthere have been many people (witnesses) that have come and gone over the years of my life in the witnesses.
some were disfellowshipped or faded away, i'd love to be able to find some of them again.
i've looked at friends reunited and can see one of my old friends and am making enquiry's, but there are others.

From few friends to more than I can handle!!!!
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini guess i'm still on a high from the bbq at the weekend, i really feel i've made some new friends, so thanks to all who helped and encouraged me go.
although we might not all live near each other, the beauty of the internet makes friendships possible over long distance.
if anyone has seen the the topic on the bbq and hasn't been before, i would say don't hesitate to go to a meet up like it.

A question about the ladies
by cyberdyne systems 101 inok firstly i have nothing against ladies, especially any of the lovely ones here - some of whom i recently had the pleasure of meeting in the flesh at englishmans bbq, and i must say what a great group of girls we have here!.
anyway back to my question, a number of times i have noticed that some women seem to go quiet on you rather than tell you what they feel.
almost like pushing you away because they can't speak about whatever it is.

Divorce came through
by cyberdyne systems 101 intime for reflection i guess, i had thought i was further along in the healing process, but sometimes i seem to slip right back to where it all started.
though i will never go back, i can see why people cling to something like the witness.
they want to think they are doing something worth while, have some order and purpose in their lives, have a pool of people that can befriend.

How many people do you 'witness' to?
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini find these days that i'm talking to so many people about being a jw and why i am not one now, and in a sense 'giving a witness' as they would term it - only from my point of view its to say why they should avoid it.
i always say to people to ask any witnesses who call on them to ask how the animals managed to cross over the continents after the flood?
like how did the kangaroo's get back to aus?.

Confession time...
by cyberdyne systems 101 inthought it might be good to confess the things we did knowingly while in the borg.
i'll go first with a taster: i once used a contribution from the public that i got from 'placing' a magazine, and used it to fund buying another magazine (top shelf) .

Is arguing good?
by cyberdyne systems 101 injust wanted opinions regarding having arguments.
my usual take on someone i love wronging me is to be forgiving and not argue about it.
i wondering if thats not the most healthy way of dealing with matters.

Engagement party - not invited
by cyberdyne systems 101 inok i'm not at all surprised to not be invited to my sisters engagement party as she is a jw and i'm df.
i was telling my girlfriend about it and she was shocked that as a family member i wouldn't be involved.
she already knows that as far as a wedding goes i'll probably be invited to the ceremony but not reception and that i'll be shunned at the kingdom hall, but i think the fact that the engagement is at my parents place she was so surprised that someone is so cut off from family things when in an unapproved status as per the wts.. like most people who have never been a witness, they don't realise how mental the whole thing is until they witness it.
